חיל האוויר הישראלי מפעיל שני דגמים של מסוק הקרב מסוג “AH-64 Apache”, שני הדגמים חמושים בתותח 30 מ"מ.
התותח ניזון מתוף תחמושת הנמצא בבטן המסוק.
לצורך תחזוקה שוטפת נדרשים לעיתים להוציא תוף זה. הוצאת התוף מתבצעת דרך פתח הנמצא בגחון המסוק.
כיום, מבוצע הפירוק, ההורדה וההרמה של התוף בצורה ידנית כאשר נדרשים 4 אנשים לצורך פעולה זו (עקב משקלו הגבוה של התוף- כ 80 ק"ג כאשר הוא ריק) וזמן רב (עקב הצורך לרוקן את התוף מתחמושת לפני פירוקו).
למצב בו לא ניתן לרוקן את התוף טרם פירוקו – אין פתרון ממשי ובמקרים אלו נדרשת פעולה תחזוקתית מסובכת של פירוק

חלק ממטעני הכנפיים של המסוק והורדת התוף עם אמצעי הרמה מאולתרים ובמקרים רבים תוך גרימת נזק לתוף התחמושת.
מטרת הפרויקט הינה תכנון מתקן הרמה שיאפשר הרמת והורדת תוף התחמושת בשני דגמי מסוקי האפאצ'י ללא צורך בריקון מוקדם של תוף התחמושת.
הרעיון הראשוני לפרויקט הועלה ע"י מכונאי בטייסת ובהמשך ביצעתי את כל השלבים המאפיינים פרויקט הנדסי בכלל ופרויקט אמל"חי בחיל האוויר בפרט, כאשר אני "חובש" שלושה "כובעים": הצרכן (הטייסת במקרה זה), המאפיין (מחלקת אמל"ח בחה"א) ומהנדס הפיתוח (גוף הנדסי בחה"א).
נכתב מסמך אפיון, בוצע סקר של סוגי מערכות ההרמה הקיימות בשוק ונבדקה מידת התאמתן לדרישות הטכניות מהמתקן, לגבי 4 החלופות שענו על דרישות הסף בוצע ניתוח משמעויות טכניות ותוכניתיות ונבחרה החלופה המיטבית.
בוצע תכן ראשוני בעזרת תוכנת תיב"מ (Solidworks) ועל בסיס תכנון זה נעשו חישובי חוזק סטטיים הן בצורה ידנית והן בעזרת תוכנת "אלמנטים סופיים" (Cosmosworks), לאחר חישובי החוזק בוצע תכן מפורט ונבחרו מרכיבי המערכת ההידראולית, הגלגלים והמיסבים.
תוצר הפרויקט הינו תכן מפורט של המתקן והוכחת התכן.
במידה וחיל האוויר הישראלי ו/או כל גוף המפעיל מסוקי אפאצ'י ירצה לייצרו, כל שיידרש הוא הכנת תיק ייצור.

Abstract

Two models of the AH-64 APACHE attack helicopter are in service in the Israeli air force; both are armed with a 30 mm gun.
The gun is fed rounds from an ammunition drum residing inside the helicopters underside.
During regular maintenance the drum is removed through an opening in the helicopters underside.
Today, the lifting and lowering of the drum is done manually and requires four people, further more it is a time consuming process (because the drum must be emptied from ammunition beforehand).
If a situation occurs where the ammunition drum cannot be emptied a complex procedure is required in order to remove it. This procedure includes the dismantling of wing stores and using improvised lifting equipment to remove the drum.
The project goal is to develop a lifting mechanism that will enable lifting and lowering the ammunition drum for both APACHE models without the need to empty the drum.
The idea for the project primarily came from a maintenance officer in apache squadron. The project passed all the mandatory stages of a military engineering project, while I represent everyone taking part in that process: Consumer, characterization engineer and development engineer.
I wrote a characteristic document, studied all the lifting equipment existing in the market and examined their suitability to the technical requirements of the lifting mechanism, and selected the best option.
A basic design has been made using SOLIDWORKS software and based on that design I calculate the model for strength, manually and also using “finite elements” software (COSMOSWORKS). After all the strength calculation has been made I designed the hydraulic system, the wheels and the bearings.
The project outcome is a detailed design of the mechanism and justification of that design.
If Israeli air force or any other apache operators intending to build that mechanism, need only to print on hard copy the production drawings.
